The NU AAUP Advocacy Chapter was approved by the National AAUP  Organization in mid-April, 2015,so we are a year old!  Please see the background on our chapter below.

The National University American Association of University Professors (AAUP) Advocacy Chapter was created in the summer of 2015 by a group of NU Faculty who were active AAUP members. Shortly after forming the chapter, it was approved by the National AAUP. You have to be a member of the National AAUP organization and be an NU Faculty member (Full-time or Part-time) to be eligible for NU AAUP Advocacy Chapter membership.

Our primary reason for establishing an AAUP Chapter is to be an advocate for academic freedom, shared governance and due process for all NU faculty members both full-time and part-time.

We are part of the "Professional" arm of the National AAUP and are not part its "Collective Bargaining" arm.

We have bylaws that govern our organization and activities and they are available under the button "Links and Articles" to the left.

As a private organization independent of the National University Administration, we can advocate on behalf of the NU Faculty for any improvements, protections, and/or recommendations which chapter members and NU Faculty believe are in their best interests and the interests of the University.  We do not seek to replace or take on any of the duties and responsibilities of the NU Faculty Governing Bodies to include the Senate, Graduate Council, Undergraduate Council as well as the Council of Chairs but intend to work closely with them in matters of mutual interest in a collegial and friendly manner.

We also intend to contact and work with the NU Board of Trustees, the NU President, and the NU Provost on all or any matter or issue important to National University in which our participation could be beneficial to all concerned.

Annual Dues for Faculty on Full-time contracts are $50.00 and Chapter dues for Faculty on  Part-time contacts are $15.00.
